Renewal of Water Mains – Thimble Mill

Thimble Mill Lane Bridge in Aston is a minor waterways feature situated along the Birmingham and Fazeley Canal. As part of Birmingham’s highway infrastructure maintenance programme, bridge strengthening work is being carried out along with renewal of the water mains on the bridge. FT Pipeline Systems has supplied pipe, fittings and Canusa heat shrink sleeves as part of this project.

800mm socket pipe with the insulating E Joint was supplied with a Versathane coating and 162 PWX lining. 600mm butt welded pipe was also required with a 3 layer polyethylene coating and seal coated cement mortar lining. In addition, a variety of tees and bends were manufactured to suit. Canusa heat shrink sleeves were supplied to provide corrosion protection for the joints.
