Project: River Main in Northwich

Details: 9kms of 500mm steel water pipe was supplied to the River Main project.  The work involved the stabilisation of salt mines located under part of Northwich town, thereby allowing the land above to be redeveloped.  The extremely aggressive ground conditions meant that neither plastic nor cement mortar lined ductile pipes would have been viable.  Epoxy lined steel pipes were chosen along with the E Joint which allows an epoxy lining to be used without  the need to repair the lining after the external welding of the pipe joints has taken place.  This was particularly important since the pipes were too small for a man to go in to do the repairs.
