Directional Drilling

Example 1: South West England

200m of 250mm buttwelded pipes has recently been supplied for a directional drill in the south west of England, near Dorchester. The pipes were coated with 3 layer polyethylene according to DIN 30670, with a seal coated, cement mortar internal lining S-v 2.7mm thick.

Example 2 : Directional Drills for Himsford to Himley Pipeline

FT Pipeline Systems supplied Fuchs pipe (now known as Mannesmann Line Pipe) to South Staffs Water for use in their Himsford to Himley pipeline.

This stretch of pipeline involved 3 directional drills and had to pass underneath 3 rivers.  Due to the difficult nature of the directional drilling, the client wanted pipe that would never corrode.

Mannesmann was the only company able to meet these requirements. The pipe was cement mortar lined with copon seal coat to DWI 25(1) (a) standard and coated in blue, 3-layer polyethylene.

The joints were protected with Canusa TBK kits.
