Canusa Scar-Guard

Scar-Guard provides superior mechanical protection to field joint and mainline coatings on directionally drilled pipelines or in areas where severe backfill conditions are present. It offers effective protection against abrasion and wear forces that occur during the pull-through or backfilling operations. The sacrificial outer laminate system protects pre-approved anticorrosion field joint coatings and mainline coatings such as FBE, liquid epoxies, shrink sleeves and tapes. Scar-Guard minimises the need for costly repairs after pull back.

Scar-Guard is a moisture curable polyurethane impregnated fibreglass protection system for joint coating. The product is simply wrapped onto the existing coatings surface and activated by water. Different cure options are available to suit the environment and construction conditions of your particular project.

Installation Example

Scar-Guard was recently used on a directional drill under a road in Ireland to protect the pipe during the pull. The 200mm diameter pipe will carry aviation fuel from the docks in Dublin to the airport. The product was used along 50m of the 10km pipeline. View the video here.
