Delivering Durable Steel Pipeline Systems for AMP8

FT Pipeline Systems is again in the front line of providing high-quality coated and lined steel pipes for UK Major Infrastructure Projects for AMP 8.

Whilst 2026 has started slowly, the opportunities for 2027–2030 are significant with several high-profile projects already in focus. The schemes include large diameter mill production through our Regulation 31 approved mill partners, assisted by two fabrication shops who make conforming and compatible bends, tees and specials. Coatings and linings are at the heart of any design life discussions, and the use of DWI 31.4.a Eurokote 468 Thixo 500 for the internals, backed up with 3LPE or PU coatings to provide long-lasting and durable protection.

The Ejoint continues to be a recognised system of success with epoxy lined steel pipes, where welding provides an axially force-locked field joint, removing the requirement for concrete thrust blocks. Finished off with a Canusa heat shrink sleeve, this proven system still leads the way with designers, contractors and clients, especially in DN 700mm and above.

New for this AMP, and a product to complement Canusa’s heat shrink sleeves that FT Pipeline Systems supply, we are now offering low-temperature solutions for field joints where naked flames are a problem. Applied as a cold tape, Stopaq is a clean and high-performing joint protection, reducing CO2e when it comes to protecting field joints, especially in shafts and other confined spaces.

The Canusa and Stopaq products provide a similar type of protection to field joints, both using the mastic base as the corrosion protection, pressured by the shrinking sleeves or the PVC topcoat, which causes the mastic to flow.

In addition to the above, FT Pipeline Systems is ramping up availability on our range of pipe-in-pipe spacers. Kwik-ZIP has been on the market for a few years now and a gradual increase in interest has resulted in a boom of enquiries for the coming period. Used for all diameters of product insertion into a carrier tunnel or duct, the Kwik-ZIP accommodates all pipe materials; steel, PE, DI, GRP and concrete, and the smaller bow range can be used on spindles, cables and other small diameter requirements.

FT Pipeline Systems would be happy to provide a lunch and learn to offices, and provided assistance to individuals wanting to know more to enhance and detail projects at design stage.
