Two models in various riser heights
Project: Highways England M42 J6 Diversion
Carrier size: 4-pipe bundle (2 x DN180 HDPE and 2 x DN450 (HDPE)
Casing size: 1500mm ID RCP Sleeve
Run length: 135m
Spacer model: HDXT-43 (43mm high)
Kwik-ZIP HDXT-43 spacers were used by Amey to facilitate the slip-lining of a four-pipe bundle for the M42 J6 Diversion project near Birmingham Airport, which hopes to allevaite congestion in the area. Kwik-ZIP spacers were selected due to their ability to secure the four-pipe bundle together, their ability to work with any pipe profile and to protect and support the bundle during the slip-lining process.
The spacers have no metal parts and are made from Kwik-ZIP’s engineered thermoplastic blend that is flexible, extremely tough and has a low co-efficient of friction.
APS Spacers
Bespoke spacers with/without rollers
Contractor: A Hak
Client: National Grid
Project scope:
- 914mm steel pipe to be inserted in 1200mm ID concrete tunnel
- FBE coated carbon steel with ApogeeAero wheels
- Spacing at 2m centres over 130m installation
- SI12-2-3648-RL-25-V
FTPS has been active with APS pipe spiders or spacers for around 10 years, with a number of different configurations to suit client requirements. Skids or rollers mounted on an FBE coated CS or SS shell, with centralisation and restraint to combat flotation ensures all carrier pipes, whatever the diameter or material, can be inserted into tunnels with relative ease.
The ApogeeAero ™ roller design incorporates a low-profile glass filled nylon polymer roller with engineered, hardened bearing, zinc-plated axle and 304 stainless steel caster, which eliminates spiralling of the casing spacer during the installation process.
