New Fire Hydrants and Washouts for Severn Trent

The Fire Brigade asked Severn Trent to replace some of their Fire Hydrants with Washouts in the Birmingham area. Severn Trent contacted FT Pipeline Systems as we have supplied them with our locking replacement stop tap lids for a number of years.

“The obvious benefit to water companies of the locking replacement lid is that it removes the need to dig out the entire chamber,” explains Nick Shaw, Manager of the Locking Lids Division at FT Pipeline Systems. “We were pleased to receive this order from Severn Trent who advised us of the dimensions and the required quantity of each lid. We then engineered them at our facility in Lichfield, Staffordshire. Another benefit of our locking lids is that they can be easily interchanged by means of a key.”

To dig out the entire chamber would cost Severn Trent £400 each time so by only having to exchange the lid they are saving £230 per lid!
