Goalkeeping Legend Bruce Grobbelaar Speaks at IGEM Christmas Lunch
Posted on Dec 08, 2022FT Pipeline Systems Chair, Duncan Frazer, recently attended the Annual Christmas Lunch for IGEM’s North West Section in the Hospitality Suite at Bolton Wanderers Football Club.
It was an excellent event with over 200 people from all sectors of the gas industry in attendance. The guest speaker was Liverpool goalkeeping legend Bruce Grobbelaar, who was absolutely fascinating to listen to. Grobbelaar will be best remembered for the wobbly-legged penalty heroics which brought Liverpool the 1984 European Cup and inspired Jerzy Dudek to the same feat in Istanbul 21 years later.
The photo above is of Bruce handing Duncan a signed picture of the Manchester Boxer, Ricky “Hit Man” Hatton which Duncan had bid for in a Charity Auction on the day. Duncan said, “Ricky was a fearless boxer who was the World Light-Welterweight Champion in 2005 and I always loved watching him box”.
