FT Gas Highlights Hydrogen Expertise at London Summit

FT Pipeline Systems Gas Division (FT Gas) was among a select group of innovative organisations showcasing eco-expertise at the Decarbonisation Technology Summit in London. The Summit partnered with the Department for Energy Security and Net Zero, with a series of objectives, including raising awareness and promoting net zero innovation porfolio (NZIP) funded projects.

Andy Fraser of FT Gas says: “We were delighted to be approached regarding participation in this prestigious summit. It afforded us a chance to not only share news of the exciting projects that we are involved in and exhibit some of the products that position us to be leading the way with particular regard to deploying hydrogen in the drive to replace fossil fuels with environment-conscious solutions, but also to network with other influencers and inspirational thinkers.”

Innovation showcased by FT Gas has already proved pivotal to a number of decarbonisation milestone projects. These include the world’s first green hydrogen-fuelled crematorium in West Sussex (which is one of the successful projects on the Government’s Industrial Fuel Switching programme, part of the Net Zero Innovation Portfolio (NZIP) and the production of the world’s first hydrogen-fired clay bricks. FT Gas also won “Product of the Year 2022” at the IGEM gas awards for the bespoke spacers it developed for Cadent.

“The Decarbonisation Technology Summit was a successful gathering of those playing a role in supporting the UK commitment to net zero,” explains Tony Allen, Head of the Industry & CCUS Team, Science and Innovation for Climate and Energy SICE at the Department for Energy Security and Net Zero.

“It was particularly pleasing to welcome FT Pipeline Systems Gas Division as the team there deploys what is considered to be applied or pragmatic innovation; innovation that demonstrably works with positive, measurable outcomes beyond a drawing board concept. The FT Gas approach has resulted not only in the business’ successful involvement in government trials and real-world applications but also in helping us move further along the road to decarbonisation.”

Duncan Frazer, Chair of FT Pipeline Systems, comments: “While we consider a range of potential green fuels as we engineer our way towards a net-zero world, we are particularly recognised for concepts and delivery of projects where hydrogen is specified. Our business is continually investing in hydrogen regulators, the design and build of robust Pressure Reduction Systems (PRS) and the development of partnerships and networks to facilitate and enable the sharing of knowledge and vision.”

One such FT Gas partnership is with Gascat of Brazil, a leading global supplier of natural gas and hydrogen PRS, regulators, valves, filters and water bath heaters. Andy Fraser concludes: “We exhibited the revolutionary Gascat Hydrogenisis compact whole gas pressure reducing station at the Decarbonisation Technology Summit and I am pleased to report that it generated a high degree of interest.

“We look forward to ongoing opportunities for engagement with the Department for Energy Security and Net Zero and applying our expertise in the development of products and systems that enable the efficient delivery and deployment of hydrogen and other non-fossil fuels to the benefit of businesses, consumers and the environment.”
