Collapsing Brick Sewer Main Replaced Using Steel
Posted on Dec 19, 2013O’Connor Utilities, on behalf of Welsh Water has used steel to replace an old, leaking, brick sewer main in Chester. 17 x 6m lengths of 1200mm diameter steel pipe lined with 1000 microns of 165 HB and coated with versathane to the same thickness were used in the renovation. The old brick sewer main was still in operation whilst the new steel pipe was installed.
Welsh Water is half way through its nationwide campaign “Let’s Stop the Block”, to reduce sewage blockages, which cause human misery, environmental damage and cost water companies millions of pounds each year.
